Challenge 2000 has long standing relationships with a number of primary and secondary schools in the Wellington region. We provide a wide range of programmes to schools to including leadership days, Season’s for Growth grief workshops and relationship education programmes.
We also run school holiday programmes around the Wellington region for various age groups. If you are interested in registering for a school holiday programme, please email us to find out what is coming up.
Holiday Programmes and Camps
School Holidays are an exciting time for Challenge 2000 staff and volunteers, as we run a number of programmes.
Students from colleges in Porirua and the Hutt Valley as well as young people we work with across the Wellingotn region are given the opportunity to be involved in our holiday programmes
Activities have been devised to help these young people grow in confidence, self-awareness and the ability to collaborate with others as well as giving young people the opportunity to volunteer and give back to their communities.
A few times a year we also provide young people a chance to head away to various parts of the country with Challenge 2000 on camp. These camps vary depending on the need of the young people with our service at the time. In the past we have had a Wāhine Toa camp in Rotorua, a Hero’s Journey retreat in Dunedin. We’ve also had a group of young men reconnect with their ancestral roots in Tūhoe country. Another group has canoed down the Whanganui River.
As you can imagine, providing these transformative, resilience-building opportunities involves a lot of work. We are extremely grateful to those who support our engagement with young people.
