Phil McCarthy

Phil has a Degree in Economics and spent nearly 40 years in the NZ Public Service; first in policy roles in the Treasury then in management, including sixteen years as a Corrections General Manager.  He was in charge of the NZ Prison Service for ten years, and was National Director of PFNZ (Prison Fellowship) between 2013 and 2017.  He has been involved in Justice Reform through the Robson Hanan Trust (JustSpeak)  and is active in Tawa Anglican Parish.   He embraces the Challenge whānau’s commitment to serve the marginalised in our community in obedience to the Gospel.
